A dream

I had a dream I saw my brother again. It was in heaven because I had died too. I drowned. I remember Jesus appearing to me and another guy there at the bottom of the pool to lead us to heaven (on a moving walkway no less). When we got there I remember there being a pool. Looking back on it, it’s kind of ironic considering how I died. I think the pool was actually my final test to decide whether I got in or not. I did get in, and it was there I saw my brother. It was great. He looked the same, i think he even still had his limp. We were together the rest of the dream. I do remember at one point having a rush of emotions. I was relieved that I didn’t have to worry about this homework I have due tomorrow, but then I remember feeling self-pity. I realized I’d never experience marriage or fatherhood. Family is very important to me. And then that self-pity immediately turned to an overwhelming sadness. I think I was able to look down on my parents and see them save face in public, but be truly torn up on the inside. Even now as I write this I tear up thinking about this scenario. My brother had sadness within him too. But we helped each other. Some time in heaven passed. I met an image of God. He was actually a mid-20s guy of some Eurasian descent I think. Oily black hair, tan skin…not really how I ever pictured him. But he was cool. Some time passed and somehow I was able to attend what seemed to be the repast at my funeral. This is something I actually have an infatuation with, being able to attend my own funeral. As I walked around, I walked without being seen, until one man spotted me. It was a high school mentor, Mr. Julius, he did not seem phased by it, rather he was glad to see me, and I him. We talked and I came to realize that his faith, either in me, God, something allowed him this ability. But he also told me I had the ability to still interact with everyone there. They could not hear or see me, but a slight touch could let them know my presence was there. As the event progressed, I found out that I could have an influence on the music at the repast. I played some random songs, it got people looking around, but had no real effect in announcing my presence. I consulted with my brother on what we should play and somehow we chose Who let the dogs out. We did sing the song a lot back in 99. Oh yeah, “God” had a universal iPod and we played the song off of there into the entire room. Upon heating this somehow my mom was able to recognize we were there. We all had a large embrace being able to be with each other again. More time passed, the party ended and as every one circled up for a closing prayer I just remember going around hugging and kissing all those who had shown up. Some felt just a slight touch, some felt the fullness of our interaction. And I think some were able to see me one last time. One person in particular who I know saw me was my little cousin. She’s two now and I remember her asking me if I was going to be coming down to Houston. I think a child’s innocence gives them more insight than we will ever realize.

I woke up soon after knowing I had to document this. I don’t know what it means, but I know not to take it lightly.A

What if Jesus just popped up to say Hi

As I sit here @ 3:32 am, the thought crossed my mind: “How would I react if Jesus appeared to me.” In which medium would I be most receptive to him. I’m not talking the spiritual understanding and acknowledgement of His presence but him truly appearing in physical form in front of me. What would it take for me to believe who he said he is? If I woke up and he was sitting at the foot of my bed, would I be scared? I guess I would because it’s surprising to wake up to someone in your room who wasn’t there before. If he just magically appeared in a poof of smoke would I yell “Oh shit!” and curse in front of him. Or would his presence automatically invoke a calmness within me? Honestly, I’d prefer if he knocked on my door and announced his presence or at least enter casually. But I think about it, and he’s different from others, so he should enter as such and I must receive him in a different manner as well.

And once this interaction occurred, what would I do? Would I try to compromise? I sit here now, and I think that’s what I’d try to do…or maybe play 20 questions. I feel like I’d recognize his divinity but I still ask him to fulfill my human desires as opposed to follow his Godly ones.

Furthermore, in this world of skepticism, how would I share the news of the conversation. Ha! There’s the mystery…that’s what I’m supposed to be trying to figure out now. (Funny how stream of consciousness writing works). Jesus is real to me, maybe not as real as this keyboard I’m typing on, but real enough to have an effect on what I do everyday. Do I/Will I fall short of his plan? Of course. I sometimes do it consciously But I acknowledge it.

Sometimes it’s good to ask myself questions, so I can answer them. But there are other questions I have to leave alone.
